Deed of Sale dated 11 January 1706/7 (Old style) [1707], by William Smith of Old Stratford, gent., son and heir of Robert Smith, late of London, grocer, who was brother and heir of Henry Smith, late of Old Stratford, gent., to Hugh Clopton of the Middle Temple, London, esq., for £35 of a garden-plot of 3/4 acre commonly called Hammond's Garden, late in the tenure of Mary Hammond, widow, and now in the tenure of the said Hugh Clopton, in Stratford-upon-Avon, adjoing William Salmon's garden on the East, the Vicarage garden and Chappell orchard on the West, Nathaniel Mason's cherry orchard on the South, and gardens of cottages fronting Chappell Lane on the North, and also one way or passage to the said plot through the entry of the house and garden wherein... Marshall, widow, now inhabits. Dated 11 January 5 Anne [1707]. Witnesses: Ann Woolmer, Thomas Woolmer, John Woolmer and Francis Granger.
