Description

Bill of complaint of Sir Thomas Leigh, Alderman of London and Dame Alice his wife (incomplete) concerning Stoneleigh Grange and mills which they had purchased from Robert Carter, through the agency of a mortgagee, William Toft (both of London, whom had since died in the plague in 1563), but to which Joan, widow of Robert Carter, John Toft, son of William Toft and Richard Smythe and Mary his wife (widow of William Toft) now lay claim, together with William Hammond to whom the property had previously been mortgaged.
