Assignment of Mortgage: Ilmington

Description

Assignment of Mortgage from George Hammond of Welsbourne [Wellesbourne] formerly of Stratford-upon-Avon, clerk, to Decimus Slatter of Southfield in Ilmingdon alias Ilmington, yeoman, of a messuage, lands and common rights in Ilmington to secure the sum of £71 5s. 11d. plus interest. The said lands formerly belonged to the Manor of Ilmington and were purchased from Algernon, Earl of Essex, Lord of the Manor of Ilmington by John Hurlston[e] of Ilmington yeoman. The said John Hurlston[e] mortgaged them to Elizabeth Palmer of London, widow, on 15 March 1659/1700 (Old style) [1700] who assigned them with the consent of Thomas Hurlston[e], nephew and heir of the said John Hurlston to Letitia Dodd of Harwick, widow, formerly of Ilmington on 17 June 1723, who in turn assigned the same to the said George Hammond on 17 April 1728 with the consent of Mary Hurlston[e], wife of the said Thomas Hurlston[e].
