Description

Deposition, made at Ludlow, of William Bubbe of Abergavenny, Monmouth, aged 63, before the King's Council in the Marches re the marriage arrangements of Maud Archer, widow. Deponent was then (21 years ago) in the household of Richard Palmer, esq., who married the mother of Maud, and who was then waiting upon Lady Cornewall, wife to Sir Richard Cornewall. Richard Archer now deceased, was suitor a long time to Maud but initial negotiations broke down over jointure to be made in certain lands of Palmer in Warwickshire. The marriage after proceeded and Archer brought with him Mr Fulwoode 'a man of lawe' who drew up the m/s. Afterwards deponent, with Wm Wigmore went to Warwickshire to deliver seisin of Archers lands to Sir Richard Cornewall and Sir Humphrey Stafford [as trustees], which they did at Molford in Tanworth [detailed description of seisin]. Deponent does not know what if any other lands or rights the said Maud had.
