Mortgage: High Street, Stratford-upon-Avon

Mortgage dated 16 March 1712/13 (Old style) [1713] by James Heane of Warwick, 'braisier' to Joshua Smith of Stratford-upon-Avon, bookseller, of the North part of a messuage in Stratford in the High Street, as now divided from the entry, heretofore in the possession of Thomas Price and late in the possession of John Scriven (of whom the said James Heane lately purchased the same) now in the tenure of Richard Grimett, shoemaker, to hold for 500 years to secure the repayment of £30 on 17 September following. Witnesses: Richard Newcomb and Nathaniel Mason. Acquittance for £30 endorsed. With counterpart, endorsed: 'Mr. Clews houses'. See also ER3/69.
