Covenant to Levy a Fine: Westington (Chipping Campden)

Description

Covenant by Nathan Izod of Westington, co. Glouc., yeoman, and Anne, his wife to Nicholas Fletcher of Chipping Campden, co. Glouc., gent., to levy a fine of the dwelling house of him, the said Nathan Izod and two yard lands etc. in Westington, all heretofore purchased of Robert Hieron; such fine to enure to uses, viz. as to the dwelling-house etc. and a moiety of the two yard lands to the use of the said Nathan and Anne for the life of the survivor, with remainder to the use of Nathan Izod his heirs and assigns, and as to the other moiety of the two yardlands, to the use of Nathan Izod his heirs and assigns. Witnesses: John Fletcher, Eleanor Fletcher, Mary Izod and Edmund Pembruge. As originally drawn, the deed included also a covenant for a fine by Robert James of Weston sub Edge, co. Glos., tailor, and Anne his wife (as on the second part) to the said Nicholas Fletcher and Robert Drury of Weston sub Edge, husbandman (as on the third part) of a malting house etc. in Weston sub Edge, heretofore in the tenure of Nicholas Edwards, clerk, and late in the tenure of Robert James, such fine to be to the use of Robert Drury, his heirs, etc., but all matter relative to this property has been scored through and the parties did not execute the deed.
