Assignment by Bartholomew Lyne, of Blackwell, co. Worc., yeoman, and Richard Taylor, of Ilmington, husbandman, to William Baggett, of Sibford Gower, co. Oxon., yeoman, of a messuage in Bridge Street `lately knowne by the signe of [the] Peacock and now by the signe of the George', built on the site of the two messuages (as ER2/33, 53, 59) which having been destroyed by fire on 10 March 1641, the then assignee, William Thornburgh, built a messuage on part of the site and on 30 September 1648 assigned the original lease to Thomas Gunn, who on 21 December 1649, assigned it to Francis Billing. On 9 January 1656/7 the last named with Elizabeth his wife mortgaged the said messuage, then known as `the Peacock' to Richard Hunt for 99 years and on 6 May 1658, confirmed it to the same by release. On 7 May 1658, Francis Billing with one John Woolmer, assigned the original lease to John Halford and John Boone (no. 70) who, in conjunction with Richard Hunt, assigned their respective terms on 27 January 1658/9 to Thomas Taylor late of Ilmington, deceased, who on 26 June 1660, assigned the original lease with all mean conveyances etc. to the above-named Richard Taylor, his father and Bartholomew Lyne.
