Wixford deed

Description

Draft letter [from Thomas Ridley on behalf of Thomas Throckmorton] concerning the choice of arbitrators to settle differences between Thomas Throckmorton and Rice Griffin, his son-in-law on 10 January following. Arbitrators suggested were John Throckmorton, Mr. Thomas Morgan and Mr. William Fortesque.

Administrative History These differences related to Moor Hall in Wixford, granted by Thomas Throckmorton to his daughter Margaret on her marriage with Rice Griffin. Thomas claimed overlordship, while Rice maintained that according to the evidence of ancient deeds, he held it in chief. V.C.H. Warws. III. p. 190.
