Description

[Extract from the confirmation of a lease for 99 years by Robert, Earl of Leicester to the Mayor, Bailiffs and Commonalty of Coventry of the manor and park of Cheylesmore] The Mayor, Bailiffs and Commonalty agree that the poor inhabitants of the city and suburbs who have not sufficient pasture for two beasts or two horses shall be granted sufficient pasture in the park of Chellesmore and other of their parks for four score beasts or heifers and twenty horses, paying to the said Mayor etc. 1 penny for each beast or heifer and 2 pence for each horse.
