Description

Lease with warranty from Alexander de Crulef' to the Abbot and Convent of Stanl', of one half virgate of land in the territory of Hulle which Nicholas son of Hugh de Hulle formerly held of the said Alexander with a messuage and all other appurtenances; to hold the same for twelve years, rendering six marks of which the said Abbot and Convent has paid three marks, the remainder of which will be paid in annual instalments of one half mark during the second half of the said term; and the said Alexander and his heirs shall be quit from the payment of annual rent in respect of the said land and also from foreign service If the same should happen within the said term; and the said property is to be delivered up at the end of the said term in the same condition as it was received, unless, by some accident, it should be destroyed by fire; but if the fire occurs through the negligence of the said abbey, then they must rebuild at their own cost. Witnesses: Robert de Kanel', Geoffrey son of John de Stanl', John de Finham, Henry his son, John de Oille, Henry son of Thomas de Crulef', William son of Michael de Hurst', Elias de Meleburn' and others.
