Description

Lease from William Huby, Abbot of the monastery of Our Lady of Stonley and the Convent of the same place, to John Hadley the elder of Coventre, deyster, of the grange called Helynhulgraunge within the lordship of Stonley, excepting a yard land in Hull Feild, and common of pasture in Hull Feildes and Fynham Feildes; with the further lease of a field called the Longe more, part of lands called Wisemans, lying in breadth `after the lane shotinge by the said more and Bockenden', also a waste called Bassetes Waste, lying in length from a field of Laurence Walgrave to Heathsale; also a croft with a grove lying in length from Heathsale to Guphillfurthe, and in breadth between land belonging to the said abbot called Whaburley and a lane reaching from Heathsale called Guphill Furthe Lane; also a pasture called Whaburley lying between Allesley Parke and Heathsall, reserving to the said abbot one hundred and twenty of the best oaks and two hundred and forty samplers, to be selected by William Raves and William Bithewater; to hold the same to the said John, Alice his wife, and Thomas, William and Emota, their children for lives, rendering annually £12. 6s. 8d. and attending annually the view of frankpledge; and the lessees must keep arable and clean the great wast called Gregpole waste, the crofts of the said grange and the pasture called Whaburley, that they may easily be tilled with eight oxen in a plough when recovered by the said abbot.
