T. Townshend, President of the Friends of Poland Literary Society, St. James, London to [William Henry] Lord Leigh. Appeals for a donation to assist Polish refugees in London who were forced into exile by the Russian government. "there are some in a state of the most abject distress abandoned by the minister of religion, unable to obtain parochial assistance, far from the aid of relatives, in short deserted by all the world except this association".
