Description

Lease from Sir Thomas Pope of Wroxton, co. Oxon. kt. to William Townesend of Lighthorne co. Warwick yeoman and Susan his wife and Thomas Townesend of Warwick innholder for £75 of a messuage and 1 3/8 yardland and 2 closes of greensward in Lighthorne then in the occupation of the said William Townesend, except the timber trees of oak, ash and elm and the tops thereof, and the bodies of thorn, willow, sally, maple and crab trees, but including lopp and shred of the same, to hold 3 lives at a yearly rent of 28s. 10 1/2 d. and two fat capons, subject to heriot and suit of court of the manor of Lighthorne, and the carting of one load per annum of Bedworth or Wedgebury cole containing three quarters of a buttrice from the pit to the mansion house at Wroxton, Sir Thomas paying the pithead cost plus 2s. 6d. per load, and the grinding of corn and grain for the tenants' own use at Lighthorne mill.
