Release from John Gregory, esq., to Arthur Gregory from a statute staple bearing date 20 October, 9 Elizabeth [1567], made in the presence of William Smallwood, mayor of Coventrie, binding the said Arthur to the said John and others in the sum of 1000 pounds, the purpose of the bond being to ensure peaceful possession of certain lands and tenements for a term of years, to have expired on the death of Thomas Gregory. Dated: 1 August, 20 Elizabeth. Tongue and seal cut away together, perhaps with the signature (see no. 1939).
