Description

Gift from William Boule clerk and Henry Caytewayte clerk to Thomas de Bello Campo earl of Warrewych' and Nicholas Lyllyng', knight, of the manors of Pynleye and Wykene together with all lands and appurtenances in Styvechale and £10 6s. rent with appurtenances in Magna Herdebourgh' to be received from the Abbot and Convent of Comba; to hold to the said Earl and Nicholas on the condition that they shall regrant the said manors to the said William and Henry within 15 days on the condition that if the said Earl is impleaded concerning the manors of Preston' and Uppyngham, co. Rutland by Baldwin de Frevyll' then the said Earl and Nicholas will take possession of the said manors of Pynleye and Wykene for ever. Witnesses: John de Toftes, mayor of Coventr', John Northwode and Richard Duddeley deyster, bailiffs of the said town, Henry Kele, John Knygth', Richard Clerk', John Styward', John Marton', deyster and others. Dated at Coventr', Tuesday next before the feast of St. Gregory, 11 Richard II. Two circular, red seals on tags: i) heraldic. A fess between 6 crosses crosslet, the shield suspended from a tree with two bears as supporters. Legend: --- DNI GOWERYE ii) 3 fish naiant in pale within a border engrailed.
