Description

Lease from William Neyll of Stychall, surgeon, to Joyce Thomare of Coventr', physician, for 5 pounds, of a messuage and a quaterne of lands and meadows with appurtenances in the town and fields of Stychall, now in the tenure of William Smythe of Stychall, husbandman, and which lands the said William Neyll had by the demise of John Ferrers, esq.; to hold the same from Michaelmas last for a term of 20 years, rendering annually 6 shillings (2 terms) and a heriot according to the custom of the manor; and the said William Neyll to put the property into good repair by Midsummer next, after which the said Joyce to maintain the property at his own expense, but with timber provided by the said William; and if during the said term the said William should be compelled by the said John Ferrers to furnish a man for war, then the said Joyce will pay to the said William 3 shillings; and should the said Joyce, through dissatisfaction with the said property, wish to surrender his lease at Michaelmas next, then the said William would refund to him £5. 6s. 0d.
