Description

Exemplification of a fine levied at Westminster in the quindene of Michaelmas 18 Edward II between John de Langeleye and Eleanor his wife, plaintiffs represented by Thomas de Solihull', Eleanor's attorney, and Robert de Farndon, parson of the church of Herdeberge, deforciant, of the manors of Styvychhale and Wyke [Wyken] co. Warws., and Weston Mauduyt [Weston on Avon] co. Gloucs. The said John recognised the manors to be the right of the said Robert as by his gift, for which the said Robert gave them back to the said John; to hold to the said John for life of the chief lord of the fee, and after his death to Geoffrey, the son of the said John and Mary his (Geoffrey's) wife, and his heirs. Exemplification dated 31 October 17 Elizabeth [1575]. Large fragment of royal seal in brown wax on tag. Endorsed: i) Iste Galfridus genuit Galfridum qui genuit Johannam Langley uxorem Baldwini Frevil' militis senioris [AG] ii) A fyne of the manor of Styvychhale in the eighteenth yeire of Edward the Seconde [AG]
