Description

Copy of the court roll of Stivechale, 18 October 7 Elizabeth, recording that John Byllinge came and took up a messuage next le Halefyld' at the end of the vill towards Coventr', with a garden adjoining, and a meadow containing two acres of land and three roods or selions of land and two selions or one acre of land abutting on le Rousell' in le Halefyld' next to lands of Thomas Hyll and one acre or two selions on le Milnehull in le Parkefyld' abutting towards Hethmylne and two selions of land upon Loveley in le Churchfyld'; to hold the same from Michaelmas last for a term of 21 years, rendering annually 16 shillings (2 terms) and a heriot when due; and the said John to maintain the said property at his own expense; and the said John gave nothing to the lord by way of fine because he is to dig and clear out (refodiet, escurabit et rostrabit) the moat which surrounds the messuage at his own expense within three years; and the said John did fealty and was admitted as a tenant on the manor in the presence of Baldwin Porter, esq., Steward.
