Description

Lease from Brother Henry, Prior of the Cathedral Church of the Blessed Mary of Coventr' and the convent of the same, to Thomas de Merston', called de Stivechale, Joan his wife and John their son of all their arable land with a place and with appurtenances in the vill and fields of Stivechale pertaining to the rectory of their chapel of the same; to hold to the said Thomas, Joan and John for the term of their lives, rendering annually to the grantors through their treasurer 8 shillings at the four usual terms in Coventr', and a heriot on the death of each of the lessees, but less for the son if he died before the mother; and after the death of the said lessees, the said property to revert to the grantors in good repair. Given in the chapter house at Coventr', Saturday next after the feast of St. Agatha, 1331. Two circular, red seals on one tag: i) an eagle rising ii) a hawk trussing a duck.
