Description

A list of wrongs committed by John Waid against Thomas Gregorie: that the said John refuses to make an estate to the said Thomas of lands in Stichall, which he was instructed to do under the will of Christopher Waid, father-in-law of the said Thomas; similarly, that the said John refuses to make an estate to the said Thomas of lands in Corley and Filongley, which he was instructed to do under the will of Isabel Waid, the mother-in-law of the said Thomas; also the said John withheld for 3 years land of the yearly value of 20 nobles, which he should have given to the said Thomas under the will of the said Christopher Waid; that, after three years, the said Thomas received from the said John lands in Stoneley [in Kingshill] worth only 53s. 4d. instead of 20 nobles, which lands he has held for three and a half years, and there is therefore owing to him 14 pounds to make good this deficiency; also that the said John Waid is withholding from the wife of the said Thomas a bequest of 40 pounds, plate worth 60 pounds and a cupboard. Memorandum that the said Thomas spent £79. 7s. 4d. in purchasing Hilles house from Mr. Andrewes, and this sum is added to the amount owed him by John Waid to make a total of £153. 7s. 4d.
