Description

Attested extract of the taxes assessed by Thomas Lord Cardinal, legate `de latere', archbishop of York and Chancellor of England, made on 13 May, 16 Henry VIII, being the amounts due for one year from a four-year subsidy granted to the king in parliament, payable by all men of the rank of baron and above; which extract the said Thomas has delivered to Ralph Swillyngton', attorney general and high collector and receiver of the said taxes. Those assessed are Cuthbert, bishop of London, Charles duke of Suffolk, Charles earl of Worcester, Henry earl of Devon, Margaret countess of Salisbury, William Sandes, knight, lord Sandes, Thomas earl of Surrey, George earl of Shrewsbury, Henry earl of Northumberland, Thomas lord Rose and George Hastings, lord of Hastings.
