Description

Complaint addressed to Henry Ferrers, lord of Groby, by William Robert of Flore, his tenant, against Katherine Trussell', once the wife of Sir Theobald Trussell', stating that the said William had just purchased in fee simple of John Michel of Flore certain lands and tenements in the vill of Flore [Floore, co. Northants.], together with the reversion of one and a half acres of land which John Palmer of Flore held for the duration of his life by a lease of the said John Michel, which the said John Palmer had released to the said William; and that the said Katherine Trussell', on Thursday after the Decollation of St. John the Baptist, 7 Richard II [3 September 1383], came armed into the fields of Flore and carried away all the crops growing on the said one and a half acres to the value of 20 shillings, and seised the said lands into her hands, affirming that the said John Palmer was her villein by right; but that the said John Palmer had been manumitted by the grant of Sir William Trussell', once father of the said Sir Theobald; and the said William Robert therefore requests the aid of Sir Henry Ferrers in obtaining redress. Endorsed: Escript touchant Katherine Trussell' de Flore
