Description

Letter, dated at Horseguards, from Sir John MacDonald to Mrs. [Caroline] Hood, regretting that he had been out when her son [Francis] had called but assuring her that, when the Duke of York's funeral is over and the Duke of Wellington, the new Commander-in-Chief, is installed, the prospects of her son obtaining a commission in the Guards are very favourable. In the meantime he advises her to write to Sir Herbert Taylor. Envelope addressed to 37 Nottingham Place, with black seal applied.
