Hood family papers

Letter, dated at Bagshot Park, from William Frederick [Duke of Gloucester] to [Mrs. Caroline Hood], acknowledging the receipt of her letter of 31 January and of a note from Sir Andrew Hamond of the same date, and assuring her that it would give him great satisfaction to recommend her son, Francis Grosvenor, for a commission in the Guards. He warns her of the large number of candidates on his list and concludes that it is impossible to say when it will be in his power to assist. Signed: William Frederick.
