Indenture of Military Service: John Archer

Description

Indenture of military service whereby George, Duke of Clarence retained John Archer, 'squier' to `do service of werre' to the king and to him, the said Duke, in his retinue in the Duchy of Normandy and the realm of France for one year, with three archers 'wele and suffisantly abled, armed and araied' at 18 pence a day wages for himself and 6 pence a day for each archer. Dated 28 February 12 Edward IV [1475]. English, on vellum.
