Admin History

Thomas Southern of Stareton, under his will, dated 23 September 1630 (DR553/10), gave to trustees a house and lands in Cubbington to porvide and income for the relief of the poor in the parishes of Stoneleigh, Stareton and Cubbington, and the maintenance of the footbridges in Stareton and Stoneleigh. By 1863, when this series of records begins, the charity was managed by four trustees (termed the Estate Trustees), three of whom were responsilbe for the distribution of monies within their respective parishes. In 1908 the number of trustees was increased to eight (three each from Stoneleigh and Cubbington, and two from Stareton). In 1920 the property was sold and the money invested
