Chancery petition of Eliza Court, an infant for premises in Wood Street, Stratford-upon-Avon

Description

By John Court, Stratford-upon-Avon, butcher, her father and guardian, and of the said John Court, for permission to enter into new lease of property in Wood Street for lives of Eliza Court, John Court and another. Recitals: (1) Lease dated 23 Apr 1825 from Arabella, Duchess of Dorset, to Letitia Buller, spinster, for lives of William Lord, William Buller and Letitia (2) Marriage of Letitia Buller and John Court, 1825 (3) Death of William Lord (4) Lease dated 27 Sep 1830 by Earl Countess of Plymouth to John Court and Letitia his wife for their lives and that of William Court their son, aged 13 months (5) Death of Letitia Court, intestate, leaving William Court her only son and heir who therefore became entitled to leasehold premises subject to life interest of John Court his father, 15 Jul 1831 (6) Death of William Court, aged 3, leaving Eliza his only sister and heir-at-law, who also became heir-at-law of Letitia Court and entitled to leasehold premises, subject to life interest of John, her father, Sep 1832 (7) With death of William Court, William Buller is only life for which lease held, but as Eliza is an infant new lease cannot be granted to William and Eliza without order of Court. Property: Messuage on north side of Wood Street, 41' wide, 51' deep, abutted on east by tenement of Esther and Samuel Smith and on west by house of William Horton.
