Description

Petition to the Lord Chief Justice of England from the Bailiff and Burgesses of Stratford upon Avon `a poore markett towne... lately much ruinated by fire' and from William Walford, William Chaundler and Henry Smyth, praying him to restrain William Combe, esq., J.P. from enclosing the common-fields of Stratford; with an injunction, made at Warwick Assizes, 27 March 13 James I [1615] `that no inclosure shalbe made... neyther that anye of the commons beinge auncient greensward shalbe plowed', without good cause shown at open Assizes.
