Description

Release dated 15 March 1298/9 (Old style) [1299] from John de Cloptone, son and heir of James de Cloptone to Walter de Cokefeld, called Marshal, lord of Clopton of the land as in ER3/240/1, late held by Johanna, sister of James de Cloptone, and of a messuage called the Ankerhus with a croft in the Grove, late held by Richard le Warner, in the parish of Stratford 'surauene'. Witnesses: Sir John de Clintone of Koleshelle, Knt., Nicholas de Warewyc, Richard de Hamptone, Nicholas de Cokefeud, Henry de Stratford son of Henry de Stowe, John Atte Wyke, clerk and others. Dated at London Sunday after Feast of St. Gregory, 27 Edward I [1299]. Seal, a fleur de lis, with legend: 'S. Johis fil. Jacobi'.
