Lease and Release: Ely Street, Stratford-upon-Avon

Description

Lease for a year and Release dated 8 9 June 1726, by Elizabeth Bruse of Stratford-upon-Avon, widow, to Joseph Hemings of Stratford-upon-Avon, stone-cutter, of two messuages lying together in the Swine Street [Ely Street] in Stratford now or late in the tenure of --- Page, widow, and John Cooper, and having a messuage in the tenure of William Miles on the East and a messuage formerly in the tenure of Alice Parr, widow, on the West; in Trust to the use of the said Elizabeth Bruse for life and at her death to the use of Elizabeth Bruse and Sarah Bruse, her daughters, a moiety to each, and the heirs of their bodies, with remainder over each to other, and in default of issue to the heirs of Elizabeth Bruse, the mother. With further covenant to pay to the said Joseph Hemings £40 in trust to pay £20 to each of the said Elizabeth and Sarah, the daughters at their attaining the age of 21, the interest meanwhile to go to the mother or, in the event of her death, to their maintenance.
