Notification by Richard prior of St Sepulchre de Warwic' of a grant in frankalmoign from a number of people

Description

Notification, c1250, by Richard called the prior of St Sepulchre de Warwic' and the canons of the same of a grant in frankalmoign from Margery de Nerbun, lady of Stivechale, widow, of 50 shillings annual rent in the town of Aldulu[estre]; namely, from Roger Fitun and his heirs, 16 shillings; from William Turkil and his heirs, 16 shillings; from Richard de Cotes and his heirs, 8 shillings; from the mill, 8 shillings; and from Richard the miller and his heirs 2 shillings; to receive the same at Easter and Michaelmas; and the said prior may make no claim on the said men, except for the fifty shillings, without the license of the said Margery, and the said Margery shall not give, assign or alienate any of the lands, tenements or homage of these men without the license of the prior or his successors. For greater security, Ranulph the heir of the said Margery applies his seal. Witnesses: Sir Thomas de Clinton, knight, Richard de Mollinton, steward of the said knight, John de Gerlecot', Thomas le Serjaunt, Simon the Clerk, Nicholas son of Richard, Richard son of Robert of Leycestr' Simon his brother, Robert Godwin, Philip Norisun, Henry the clerk of Alduluestr', Henry his clerk, and others.
