Description

Settlement on the marriage of Edward Smith of Howell, co. Lincs., clerk, eldest son and heir of John Smith, late of Halton Holgate, co. Lincs., clerk, deceased, to Dame Henrietta Maria More of Holles Street, in the parish of St. Mary la Bone, co. Middx., widow, being a conveyance in trust, by lease and release, from the said Edward Smith to Arthur Gregory of Stivick Hall, esq., and Henry Michael of Sleaford, co. Lincs., gent., for 10 shillings, of a moiety of the following: the manor of Coppledyke, alias Cuppledykes Hall in Freeston in Holland, co. Lincs., with the site of the manor house, diverse other lands (specified) in the parish of Freiston, and a capital messuage and diverse lands (specified) in the parish of Skerbeck, co. Lincs., all which premises are now in the tenure of John Wilkinson and John Wilson, and which were conveyed, by indentures of lease and release, dated 28 and 29 June 1728, from Pettis Kelsall of Wisbeck in the Isle of Ely, gent., and Ellen Jenkinson of Boston, co. Lincs., widow, to the said John Smith, subject to an annuity of 15 pounds to the said Ellen Jenkinson, since determined by the death of the same; to hold the same to the said Arthur Gregory and Henry Michael for the use of the said Edward Smith for life, then for the said Dame Henrietta More for life, and then for the heirs of the said Edward Smith.
