Description

Assignment by Sir John Clopton, Knt., and Hugh Clopton, Esq., his second son, by way of settlement on the marriage of the said Hugh with Elizabeth, daughter of Thomas Millward, Esq., to Richard Dighton of Clifford Chambers, Esq., of a lease from Charles, Earl of Dorset, etc. 20 May 1679, of land lately staked out in Stratford-upon-Avon or Old Stratford, in the Guild Pitts lying near the Common Pound of Stratford-upon-Avon and adjoining or near the road from the north part of the town for 150 years at a yearly rent of 2s 6d, and a lease from the Mayor etc. of Stratford, 3 June 1692, of a piece of arable meadow or pasture in Old Stratford in the tenure of the said Sir John Clopton for 51 years at a yearly rent of 20 shillings and two capons. Witnesses: William Granger, Henry Parker, Thomas Allsop, Thomas Woolmer.
