Covenant to uses of a Fine: Clopton, Ingon, Hampton Lucy and Stratford-upon-Avon

Description

Covenant dated 3 September 2 James I [1604], that a Fine to be levied by William Clopton of Clopton, esq. and Anne his wife to Sir Henry Slingesby of Scryven and Sir William Slingesby of Thorpe on the Hill, co. York, Knts., of the manor, manor-house and park of Clopton with lands, etc. in Clopton, Stratford-upon-Avon, Ingon, alias Ington, alias Ingden, and Hampton alias Bishophampton [Hampton Lucy], sold by indenture of 19 March last past by the said William Clopton and Anne for £3000 to Sir George Carew of Upton Hellyns, co. Devon, Knt., Vice Chamberlain of the Queen, and Dame Joyce his wife, shall be to the use of the said Sir George and Dame Joyce. Witnesses: William Wicliffe, John Carvile, William Robinson, Edward Mottershed, Thomas Wells and Robert Midleton.
