Lease: Oxhill

Description

An agreement made between Robert Curtis of Oxhill, yeoman, and William Gardner of Pillerton Priory, butcher, concerning a lease to the said William Gardner of a messuage and lands in the common fields of Oxhill excepting certain rights reserved to the said Robert. To hold for four years from 1 May 1752, paying the annual rent of £8 6s. and an additional £5 for every acre converted from pasture to tillage. Clauses concerning payments of taxes, husbandry, maintenance and repair, the said Robert also to set in order the shop where the said William was to carry on his trade of a butcher. Signed and sealed by the parties. Witnesses: Thomas Harbidge and Charles Holland. Endorsement dated 15 January 1760 to continue the above lease to William Parker for a further four years from 1 May 1761. Witnesses: James Prew and Ann Baskitt. [Curtis]
