Copies or abstracts of leases from William Neell of lands in Stivichall and a mill at Pinley: f. 1-1v; copy of a lease from William Neyll to Joyce Thomare of land in Stivichall; 13 October, 1555 [no. 777]. f. 1v; abstract of a lease from the same to the same of Heth myll; 1 May 1556 [No. 780]. f. 2; a copy of a lease dated 20 October, 1 and 2 Philip and Mary [1554] from William Neell of Stichall, surgeon, to Henry Brunte of the same, yeoman, of all the messuages, houses, barns, etc. now in the tenure of the said Henry in Stichall, and late in the tenure of Richard Hill; also a cottage and croft in the tenure of John Jarrowe, with the lops of the trees; to hold for 20 years, rendering annually 30 shillings, a heriot and 10 shillings towards providing a man for war whenever Mr. Ferrers, the lord of the manor, shall be required to do so. Henry Brunte is to be responsible for repairs, and the cottage to be used for habitation and not as a barn. The said William will provide sufficient great timber for repairs. f. 3; Abstract of a lease from the same to [William] Lynsey, of Peggemyle,20 October 1555 [No. 494]. Abstract of a lease from the same to Gibbes of a close called the Lodge feld, part of the king's demesne belonging to Astill Grove of the lordship of Kenelworthe, parcel of the Duchy of Lancaster; to hold for a residue of a term of years, rendering annually to John Throkmarton 53s. 4d. Also leases his mansion house in Stichall with the appurtenances from Michaelmas 1 and 2 Philip and Mary for 20 years at 25 shillings per annum. Clauses for repair, for the provision of 13s. 4d. towards the cost of a knight when required, and 26s. 8d. for a heriot. [See no. 782]. Abstract of a lease from the same to Barsit of a messuage with the appurtenances in Stichall and a croft called Ferny croft, with the lops of the trees, for 20 years from Michaelmas 1 and 2 Philip and Mary at 20 shillings per annum, a heriot when due and 6 shillings towards the furnishing of a man for war when required. Abstract of a lease from the same to Henry Brunt of a messuage, garden, orchard, etc. in the town and fields of Stichall in the tenure of Richard Sheyfeld, the arable land to be held from Michaelmas 1557, and the rest of the property from Michaelmas 1558, for 17 years at 23s. 4d. per annum, a heriot when due and 10 shillings for military service. Repair clause, and rights of lop and crop. f. 4; Abstract of a lease from the same to Richard Walford of a messuage in his tenure with the appurtenances in Stichall, and the lops and crops of the trees, from Michaelmas 2 and 3 Philip and Mary for 20 years at 13 shillings per annum, rendering a heriot when due and 10 shillings towards the furnishing of a man for war. Repair clause. Abstract of a lease from the same to Richard Bett, Joan his wife and Joan their daughter of land in Stichall. 31 May 1555 [no. 776]. Abstract of a lease from the same to John Smyth of a messuage with appurtenances in Stichall in the occupation of the said John Smyth, except a cottage next to the said messuage, with a croft and half an orchard between the two, from Michaelmas 2 and 3 Philip and Mary for 19 years, at 20 shillings per annum, and rendering a heriot when due and 10 shillings towards the furnishing of a man for war.
