Grant of land: Clopton

Description

Know present and future that I James de Clopton have granted to Walter de Cokefeld called Mareschall and Joan his wife and the heirs of the said Walter, my capital messuage and all my lands which I had in Clopton and in the Grove with the homage and service of free men and others with wards, reliefs etc. except a messuage and 1 virgate of land which Master William de Montefort parson of the Church of Stratford holds in the town of Clopton and except 1 messuage and 1 virgate of land which Walter de Hackleye and Joan his wife hold in Clopton and in the Grove, which messuage and which lands they held of the aforesaid Walter Mareschall paying therefor annually to the aforesaid Walter one halfpence at the Feast of St. John the Baptist and except all the land which is of the heirship of Margery my wife - to have and to hold etc. and moreover I have granted for me and my heirs all the tenements which Henry de Pathlowe and Amabilia his wife hold in the name of dower of the aforesaid Amabilia of the heirship of the aforesaid James de Clopton - and which tenements with appurtenances after the decease of the said Amabilia ought to revert to the aforesaid James and his heirs, after the decease of the said Amabilia, wholly may remain to the aforesaid Walter, for this donation and grant the aforesaid Walter has given to me 40 pounds of silver, etc. Witnesses: Sir John de Wilmecote, Sir William de Bisopisdon, Sir Peter de Wolvardinton, Richard de Peyto, Ralph le Pouer, Robert le Heyr, Philip de Hulle, Robert de Grave of Wotton and Richard Clerk of Weston, writer of this Charter, etc. Undated.
