Description

Lease from Robert Sutton, Abbot of the Monastery of Stonley and the Convent of the same place to Richard Hillys of Helynhul Graunge, husbandman, and Thomas Hill and John Hill, sons of the said Richard, of Helynhul Graunge with the arable, pasture and wood lands thereto belonging, viz. two groves lying by the side of the grange one of which is called Daniell Grove and the other Helynhull Grove; three crofts between the Grange and Daniell Grove being enjoyed in severalty all the year, another field called Danielfyld enjoyed in severalty all the year and three other fields held in common for half the year, one of which is called Step Croftes and the other two the Graunge Pecys; thirty-three arable lands in Fynham Fylde called Merden fild; also a meadow called Aldersham meadow lying astride the highway from Stonley to Coventr' on one side and the brook running under Bakyngton wood on the other side; and of the said thirty-three lands, seven lie in ground between Merdon Streme and Galowe Hill, four stretch upon Pearsbyrrelles to Sladewey between lands of the Abbot in the tenure of Hugh Gregory, five in Pearsbirrelles between the lands of the Abbot in the tenure of John Rawlyns, alias Robynson and Hugh Gregory; seven lie in Merdon Medowe between the lands of the said Abbot in the tenure of John Tyme and William Nycolles; five lie in the same meadow between the lands of the said Abbot, in the tenure of William Nycolles and Robert Newbolde and six lie in the same meadow between the lands of the said Abbot in the tenure of John Tyme and William Robynson of Hyll; also five doles of meadow in Nethurfylde medowe in Fynham, and five doles in Merdenfylde; to hold the same for 30 years, rendering annually 4 marks, also a heriot when due according to the custom of the manor of Stonley and suit of court twice a year.
