Probate of the will of William Edkins of Stratford-upon-Avon, yeoman, dated 20 September 1853, bequeathing to trustees (his brother, Thomas Edkins of Gipsy Hall, farmer, his nephew Jonathan William Neal, of Moreton-in-the-Marsh, bank-clerk, and William Durant of Stratford-upon-Avon, cordwainer) his two messuages in Stratford-upon-Avon and Old Stratford in the tenure of himself and Ann Findon; to hold in trust to sell for the benefit of his wife, Sarah, and his illegitimate son, Edmund Trotman of Chicago, Illinois, shoemaker. The remainder of his real and personal estate is bequeathed to his wife, Sarah, for life, with remainder, as regards a freehold messuage at Newnham in Aston Cantlow in the occupation of Thomas Bunn, to his niece, Elizabeth Edkins, daughter of Thomas Edkins; as regards a freehold messuage in Newnham in the tenure of Widow Hawkes, to his cousin, John Green of Newnham, son of Thomas Green of the same, farmer; as regards his two leasehold messuages in Great Alne in the tenure of Isaac Haytray and Ann Pratt, widow, to his nephew William Winn of Binton, son of his sister Alice Winn; as regards a cottage in Binton in the tenure of Alice Winn, to his nephew Thomas Neale, son of his sister Jane Neale; and as regards a tenement in Binton in the tenure of Thomas Edkins, to his nephew Jonathan William Neale.
