Description
Copy will of Elizabeth Edden, wife of Thomas, Darlingscote, gent., reciting marriage settlement dated 4 November 1786 between Thomas Edden and Elizabeth Gibbs, Moreton-in-Marsh, spinster (now testatrix) whereby if she survives her husband without issue she has power to charge certain premises either during life or by will with sum not exceeding £2,000 and further reciting deed of 1 September 1787 whereby Thomas Edden and trustees empowered Elizabeth to dispose of £2000 during her life, marriage or by will chargeable on premises in Tredington. Now Charges premises in Tredington with payment of legacies - to trustees: William Gibbs, Chelsea, Middx., carpenter and John Gibbs, Bourton-on-the-Hill, Glos., gent. at 5 percnt; interest £400 in trust for children of Elizabeth, wife of Edward Hartwell at age 21 with interest used for education. £20 to William Gibbs £20 to John Gibbs Interest on £1560 to Elizabeth Davis, wife of Thomas of Bourton-on-the-Hill, for life for her own use, provided she does not sell or mortgage same then not into her hands but trustees to pay her expenses only Then in trust for children of Elizabeth Davis at 21, interest used for education. All jewels and clothes to Elizabeth Davis. Trustees as executors Witnesses: Carew Elers, Bedford Square; Luke Cade; William Green, Chelsea. Proved in Prerogative Court of Canterbury 14 November 1794.
