Lease and Release: Henley Street, Stratford-upon-Avon
Description
Lease for a year and Release dated 18 19 August 1755, by John Payton and Mary his wife to Dionysius Bradley of the messuage and lands as in ER3/108, together with a messuage, malthouse and gardens in the Rother Market, Stratford, lately purchased by the said John Payton of Master Joseph Hunt, deceased; to hold the same in mortgage for securing the payment to the said Dionysius Bradley of £100, with interest at 4 per cent, and for saving him harmless from payments due on two bonds entered into by him jointly with and for the proper debt of the said John Payton, viz. to Daniel Blackford of Hitcoat [Hidcote], co. Glouc., yeoman, in £360 for the payment of £180 with interest, dated 5 April and to Stephen Burman of Shottery, gent., in £200 for the payment of £100 with interest dated 19 May. Witnesses: John Court and Ann Austin. With acquittance endorsed from John Payton to Dionysius Bradley for £100, dated 19 August 1753 and memorandum by Dionysius Bradley that principal and interest were paid, 20 August 1760.
