Mortgage of Lease: High Street, Stratford-upon-Avon

Mortgage dated 3 May 1759, by John Tissell of Stratford-upon-Avon, saddler, to John Hunt of Alveston, yeoman, of a lease for 41 years, dated 13 December 1758 from the Mayor, Aldermen and Burgesses of Stratford-upon-Avon, of a messuage in High Street, late in the tenure of Henry Mathews and now in that of the said John Tissell, having the tenement of James Keating, bookseller, on the North and the 'King's Arms' late in the tenure of Elizabeth Toms, widow, on the South, to secure the repayment on 3 November following of £100 with interest at 4 per cent. Witnesses: Dionysius Bradley and Robert Wheler. With memorandum endorsed 25 March 1760, of the receipt by John Hunt of the principal, £100, from Dionysius Bradley and covenant to assign to the latter the premises at his request.
