Description

Mortgage dated 16 March 1677/8 (Old style) [1678] by Alice, widow of Thomas Mayo al. Fletcher, late of Stratford upon Avon, weaver, to Thomas Huckell, of Binton, yeoman, for £35, of a quarter yardland in the fields of Stratford, Welcombe and Shottery, for 14 years, being the moiety of a half yardland bequeathed by William Mayo, al. Fletcher of Stratford upon Avon, weaver, by will dated 20 September 1670 to Richard and Thomas his two sons and which moiety the said Thomas, by will dated 9 November 1676 bequeathed to Alice, his wife, until William and Thomas his sons should come to full age. Together with mortgage of a lease from Charles, Earl of Middlesex dated 21 June 1665, to Thomas Mayo of a messuage, in the occupation of the latter, in Wood Street, for 21 years, to commence 1 May 1678, at a rent of 10 shillings. Witnesses: Thomas Mills, John Frances, Richard Mayo and Samuel Phillips.
