Description

Petition by the Bailiff and Burgesses of Stratford upon Avon to King Philip and Queen Mary for a Privy Seal against John Acombes, gent., to appear before the Court of Requests to answer a charge of detaining, as his own inheritance, certain lands, etc. in Studley, which had been purchased by his father John Acombes, gent., who had been chosen as Master of the Guild in Stratford about 17 years before, out of the surplus of rents, etc. belonging to the Guild and for which for 10 years until his death he had paid to the petitioners a yearly rent of 22s. for the use of the poor of Stratford.
