Paul Morgan (1915 - ): lecture notes re: Hymn tune 'Shipston' and ballads

Description

Lecture notes, with photocopies, letters and other miscellanea, relating to:

- The hymn tune 'Shipston', first published for such use in the 'English Hymnal', 1906, and particularly to its origin as the folk ballad, 'Bedlam City';

- Frederick Scarlett Potter (1834-1915), of Halford, antiquary, who collected and published the tune with other ballads, in 1893.

Also: tape recording of Peter Innocentius Drinkwater of Shipston-on-Stour, local historian (c.1949- ) singing the above tune and other local ballads, at the Annual General Meeting of the Shipston-on-Stour Local History Society, 1988.
