Macbeth prompt book: Benson Company

Description

Macbeth prompt book. A much-used prompt book, showing various hands in the directions, and a variety of cuts and restorations, in one case, of a whole scene (see page facing p.1)

Probably dates from the first decade of the 20th cent. (cfr. Benson Romeo and Juliet prompt book 4296 (f87), and was used up to the 1920s. It includes the cast list from a programme of about 1923 (see fly-leaf). The text used is probably Cassell's National Library ed, with the exception of p8.
