Description
Interview with Christopher Armfield (born c. 1899), who served as a detective constable in Warwick, 1931-1933 and Rugby, 1933-1935; and as a police constable in Stratford from 1935-1955. Recalls general impressions of working as a policeman in the 1930s and 1940s; R.M. Smith; murder of Nurse Olive Bennett, 1954; Bob Pope, landlord of the Bell, Shottery. His wife, Mary Armfield (born 1924) recalls experiences as a member of the W.A.R.C. during the War and work as a civilian clerk in the police station; her secretarial training in Stratford; floods in 1932.
