Interview with Joyce Stirch, born 1921, and her sister Mary Scott-Stirch, born 1920; recall schooling at Rosemary Preparatory School, Alcester Road; Belmont School in Mayfield Avenue and The Croft School, Church Street; the family firm (Scotts, builders' and decorators' merchants) run by their maternal grandfather and then by their mother, initially on the canal basin, and (from 1932) in Henley Street; the Thatch Tavern where their father was licencee; Loggins the chemist, where Joyce worked in the 1930s.
