Interview with Peter Silver (see also DR730/12, DR730/25, DR730/32); recalls the buildings on the site of the original Flower's brewery, later occupied by Kendalls; the use of the canal by these firms; the bargees; John Roberts, the builder; Clopton Road and the Clopton estate; Ashwin's brickworks; allotments on the site of the Arden Street car park; hospital 'huts'; Ball Brothers; the boundary elm on the corner of Clopton Birmingham Roads; Archer Son, wheelwrights; earlier businesses on the site of Western Road, and the site of the town's rubbish tip; the old labour exchange in Birmingham Road, including the 'new' brewery and Espley's brickyard.
