Assignment of mortgage from William Pattison of Hall Green, Yardley, co. Worcs., gent., with the consent of Sarah King of Alcester, widow, to Ellen Villers Wilkes of Birmingham, spinster, for £350, of an inn in Bridge Street, Stratford-upon-Avon, known as the Golden Lion, late in the tenure of George King, deceased, afterwards of his son, George King, also deceased, then of Sarah King, since of William Gibbs and now of Henry Hartley, bounded by premises in the tenure of Manley C. Ashwin on one side and premises in the tenure of John Gardener on the other; with a further charge from Sarah King to Ellen Villers Wilkes to secure £350. With the following recitals: i) 23 January 1613/14 (ER 2/33) ii) 9 October 1786: (no. 10) iii) 10 October 1786: (see no. 11, i) iv) 29 June 1787: (no. 11) v) 24 and 25 July 1788: assignment from John Nickals to Charles Pestell and Thomas Hemmings in trust to sell for the benefit of creditors. vi) 1 September 1788: assignment from John Nickals, his mortgagee, John Roberts (see no. 11) and his trustees for sale, Charles Pestell and Thomas Hemmings, to George King. vii) 12 August 1809: will of George King, bequeathing the Golden Lion to his wife Elizabeth King for life, with remainder to his son, George King (proved 17 March 1813): (see DR469/278) viii) 27 January 1816: will of George King, the son, bequeathing the Golden Lion to his wife, Sarah King, with remainder to his daughter Sarah Anne King (proved 9 April 1816). ix) 21 March 1837: death of Elizabeth King. x) 1 April 1830: death of Sarah Anne King. xi) 21 February 1851: mortgage from Sarah King to William Pattison to secure £350. Endorsed with reconveyance from Ellen Villers Wilkes to Robert William Jephcott of Alcester, grocer (executor of Sarah King), for £709 2s. 8d.
